Last summer my husband got me into long boarding. Which, for those of you who don't know me, was a pretty big deal. I've always thought skateboarding was really cool but I just hate falling down.
I hate falling down so much, my mom says when I was little I wouldn't even climb onto the couch by myself, even though I totally could. I just don't like it. My siblings all played hockey, I did try one game - and yes, I sucked - and I was always made fun of at skate night for being sooooo slow.
So anyways, now that you know my hatred for falling and getting hurt, it was huge that I even tried long boarding. But the truth is - it's WAY easier than skateboarding, and a lot easier than a penny or nickel board. In fact, the longer the board, the easier it is to balance on it.
I was amazed I could do it. So after a year of me riding my husbands really cool long board, and him riding the penny board that was practically the size of his foot, I finally decided to get myself a board.
I really liked the ones that look like surfboards, so I ordered a deck, got some used trucks, and got to work.
Because of course, I had to make my own. Here's how I did it:
I made a quick paper sketch.
Took a picture with my phone.
Opened it in Photoshop.
And with those mock-ups I was able to make a bunch of different versions of what I wanted for people to vote on, and just so I could see what was my favorite.
It only took me a few minutes and I couldn't believe how cool they turned out! I wouldn't have been able to test it out without Photoshop.
